Israel Kamakawiwo’oleの”Over The Rainbow“は何度か取り上げていますが、あまり”What a Wonderful World”の方に触れてなかったので、今回はLouis Armstrong(ルイ・アームストロング)のライブ動画をご紹介。

Somewhere Over The Rainbowの歌詞が違う?
この前、ハワイアン音楽快読本を読んでいたら、IZの歌う”虹の彼方に”は、歌詞がオリジナルと違うといった指摘がありました。
以前に様々なアーティストが歌うOver The Rainbowのライブ動画をご紹介しましたが、確かにジュディ・ガーランドが歌っていものは、どこか違ってました。(といっても本家は彼女の方なのですが)
実際に歌詞を比較すると分かりやすいですよね。

ちょうど、こちらもウクレレのTab譜があったので、そこから歌詞を引用させて頂きます。
イズラエル・カマカヴィヴォオレが歌う“Somewhere Over the Rainbow”の和訳と比べてみてください。
ちなみに”What a Wonderful World”の歌詞は、ほぼ同じようですが、一箇所
sayin’ “how do you do?”が、IZのだとsinging “how do you do?”に聞こえる気がしますがどうなんでしょうか。
