Now and Foreveとギター練習の思い出

上のライブ動画は、Nathan Aweau(ネイサン・アウェアウ)とHerb Ohta Jr.(ハーブ・オータ・ジュニア)の豪華二人による”ナウ アンド フォーエバー”です。

“Now and Forever”というと、Richard Marx(リチャード・マークス)が頭に浮かびますが、Keali’i Reichel(ケアリィ・レイシェル)もアルバム「Lei Hali’a」で歌っています。
この曲は、何度もご紹介しているハワイアンコンピレーション「ISLANDER」にも収録されています。

以前のエントリで以前働いていたお店で出会った占い師の話をしましたが、その店で働いていた学生のYがギターを弾けるので、よく閉店後のお店でギターを教わっていました。
当時、リチャード・マークスの「Paid Vacation」が発売されて購入した頃です。

Yが弾く”Now and Forever”と一緒に、私は弾けないながらも弾いているフリをしつつ、歌った記憶があります。
あの頃から、ギターの技術に進歩がないのが情けない……。

当時、ライナーノーツの和訳を見て、「甘あまな歌詞だなぁ」と感じた記憶があります。
日本語だと抵抗のある詩の内容でも、英語ならすんなりと口ずさんだりできるのは、直感的に意味が分かりにくいせいかもしれませんね。

懐かしいので歌詞をLyrics.Netから引っ張ってきました。
15年ほど昔の曲ですが、今聴いても、まったく古さを感じませんね。

以前、ギター関連のエントリでも紹介したUltimate-Guitar.ComにTAB譜がありました。
