もう一度、最初から子育てをやり直せたなら

I’d finger paint more, and point the finger less.
指が擦り切れるくらい、一緒にフィンガーペイントでお絵かきする

I’d do less correcting, and more connecting.
あら探しばかりしていないで、子供の気持ちを理解しよう

I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
時計ばかり見るんじゃなくて、子供を見つめていよう

I would care to know less, and know to care more.
子供の気持ちを知るだけじゃなくて、労りの心を持とう

I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.
ハイキングに出かけて、凧を上げよう

I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play.
深刻に遊ぶのではなく、本気で遊ぼう

I’d run through more fields, and gaze at more stars.
一緒に野原を走り回って、星空を見上げよう

I’d do more hugging, and less tugging.
子供を引っ張りまわすのではなく、もっと抱きしめよう

I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.
安定ばかりを求めずに、子供の意思を尊重しよう

I’d build self-esteem first, and the house later.
子供の自尊心を尊重しよう、家を建てるのはその後だ

I’d teach less about the love of power,
権力や富の力よりも

And more about the power of love.
愛の力について語ろう。

It matters not whether my child is big or small,
子供はいつまでも、自分の子供なんだから

From this day forth, I’ll cherish it all.
